I'm a design engineer. I build and ship digital products end to end — frontend, backend, and the AI tooling around them. Working on the web since 1997.

Most of my recent work is harness engineering — the environment, feedback loops and verification gates that let AI coding agents do reliable work, applied to how software gets built. Everything I build is accessible by construction (WCAG, WAI-ARIA). I contract through my own company (AXIA Digital) and already invoice European clients directly — no employer-of-record to set up.

An autonomous, verifiable engineering pipeline: 15 skills, 7 agents, a swarm mode with research fan-out and a reviewer panel, and adversarial verification gates that try to refute the evidence instead of trusting the pipeline's own self-attestation. compounder.alexcesar.com · github.com/lexcesar/compounder

A clinical diary for the 24-hour Holter exam — the patient taps a symptom and it lands timestamped on the doctor's dashboard. Designed and built solo.

Senior Frontend Engineer · self-employed · remote

Independent software studio for remote frontend work with European and U.S. teams, and the company through which I ship my own products. OPTEN AG — Dübendorf, Switzerland

Jun 2025 — Jul 2026

Senior Frontend Developer · contract · remote

Hired as the frontend specialist in the agency's team of designers and fullstack engineers: taking approved Figma designs to tested, accessible production code, building reusable components and contributing UX improvements. QA and technical direction on this engagement came from Noevu GmbH — see the next entry. Client names under NDA — anonymised case studies at alexcesar.com.

  • National sports federation platform — Game Center with live standings, schedules and player statistics. Umbraco 17 / .NET 10 / HTMX. (2026)
  • Voice-first B2B ordering app for a wholesale distributor — React Native / Expo, 60 fps audio recorder, upload queue with retry, DE/EN. (2025–2026)
  • TV-production workflow tool for a national sports league — Angular, built against a frozen JSON contract so frontend and backend could ship in parallel. (2026)
  • Enterprise customer portal — Angular 17; a 15-component library composed into 10+ portal sections. (2025)
  • AI assistant interface — streaming chat for a distributor's staff. Angular 20 with Signals. (2025)
  • Workplace safety heatmap for an industrial client — incident heat- and cluster-map. Angular 17. (2025)
  • Manufacturer CMS platform — Umbraco 17 / Razor; editor-proof modules with content fallbacks. (2026)
  • OPTEN Conventions Plugin — AI code review distributed across the agency's repositories: 5 review agents, 8 auto-loading skills, and a feedback loop that encodes senior developers' PR corrections as agent rules. compounder is its open-source successor.

Noevu GmbH — Niterói, RJ

Jun 2025 — Jul 2026

Senior Frontend Developer · contract · hybrid

Parallel engagement over the same period: Noevu provided QA and technical direction on my OPTEN delivery, alongside frontend and content-platform engineering for a Noevu client — an Astro site backed by a Sanity CMS: content schema and Studio setup, editor and preview workflow, and a design-token based styling system, built plan-first inside the team's own way of work.
